I'M NOT THE ONLY CRAFTY ONE IN THE BUNCH

i know i mentioned that i get my craftiness from my mom, but i'm not sure i've ever mentioned JUST how much the DIY bug runs through my entire family.

my older sister, melissa, has been known to make super hero outfits for her friend's kids, baby blankets for newborns, hair accessories, quilts, and hot dog cakes. but she kind of outdid herself for my birthday this year.

melissa found a box of my dad's old slides that had pictures from college, my mom, grandparents, and missouri and made me this awesome lamp shade by punching holes in the slides and attaching them together with small metal rings.

oh, and if the shade wasn't enough she also sent me the lamp to put it on.

YE OLE TUBE SPOT

nothing better than spending four hours drinking with friends floating down a river and ending up at a bar/restaurant. did i mention they have karaoke on saturday nights? this place is genius.

sadly forgot my underwater camera for the upstate tubing party a couple weekends ago. doesn't really matter - i took 4 rolls of mental pics.

DIY PANTONE COOKIES

i made my girl becky some pantone cookies for her 30th birthday in june. 

after cutting out the square cookies and baking them, I mixed the different color icings, iced the top 2/3 with different shades of colors, and then iced the bottom 1/3 of each cookie white. i let the cookies sit out for about 30 minutes so the icing hardened a bit, then used black food coloring like watercolors to paint the "PANTONE " onto each cookie.

sure it took a while. but beck is worth it.
